Cockroach Extermination Built for Full Elimination

Gel baiting, residual treatment, and follow-ups for full elimination.

Cockroaches are one of the few pests that almost never go away on their own — German cockroaches reproduce so fast that a handful behind the fridge becomes a kitchen-wide problem in weeks, and they build resistance to retail sprays. Check Pest Control treats roaches with a combination of professional gel baits, insect growth regulators, and targeted residuals, then returns to break the breeding cycle so you reach true elimination instead of a temporary dip.

Seasonal note

Cockroaches are an indoor, year-round pest in Ontario, thriving in heated kitchens through winter. Infestations often spread between units in apartments and condos, so early treatment matters.

What’s Included

  • Species ID (German, American, Oriental, brown-banded)
  • Professional gel baiting in harbourage zones
  • Insect growth regulator to stop eggs from maturing
  • Targeted residual treatment in voids and cracks
  • Follow-up visits timed to the breeding cycle
  • Sanitation and moisture recommendations to prevent recurrence

Our Process

  1. 1

    Inspect

We find the harbourage — warm, humid spots near the fridge motor, dishwasher, and under sinks — and confirm the species.

  2. 2

    Bait & regulate

Gel bait plus an insect growth regulator kills active roaches and prevents the next generation from breeding.

  3. 3

    Treat voids

Residual product goes into the cracks and voids roaches travel through, where sprays on surfaces never reach.

  4. 4

    Re-treat

Timed follow-ups catch newly hatched nymphs so the cycle is fully broken — confirmed before we close the job.

Cockroach Extermination — FAQs

Why can’t I get rid of cockroaches with store-bought spray?
German cockroaches have developed widespread resistance to common over-the-counter pyrethroid sprays, and surface spraying actually makes them scatter and spread to new rooms. Effective control relies on gel baits they feed on and an insect growth regulator that stops eggs from hatching — a combination that isn’t available in retail products and has to be placed in the right harbourage zones.
How long until the cockroaches are gone?
You’ll usually see a sharp drop within the first week as the bait takes effect. Because roach egg cases (oothecae) are protected from treatment, full elimination takes a few weeks and at least one follow-up visit timed to when those eggs hatch. Rushing the process is the most common reason DIY attempts fail.
Are cockroaches a health risk?
Yes. Cockroaches contaminate food surfaces with bacteria like salmonella and E. coli, and their shed skins and droppings are a known trigger for asthma and allergies, especially in children. That’s why we treat even small infestations seriously and pair chemical control with sanitation guidance to remove the food and moisture sources sustaining them.
What can I do to keep them from coming back?
Cockroaches need food, water, and harbourage. After treatment, fixing leaky pipes and taps, storing food in sealed containers, taking out garbage nightly, and sealing gaps around pipes and baseboards removes what they rely on. We provide a tailored prevention checklist, and ongoing seasonal service is available for homes that have had repeat issues.
